I woke up early in the afternoon,  “Jesus how long have I slept” ? Gloria, must’ve been home by now,  I got up from the couch and went outside, I looked at my watch, it was about 2 pm..

Gloria was my baby sister, 15 years apart,  she was 17 now, and all grown up, last time I saw her she was still a baby, my other sister Helga,  was 3 years older than me and lived in Massachusetts with her new boyfriend, my parents decided to name her Helga after my late great grandmother, my great grandmother was born of Prussian nobility, I hardly remember her, she died when I was 2 years old, and from what I understand signed of all that she had to my mother, that included an estate in Pomerania, though it resembled more of an ancient castle, than an estate. from inside and out,  and tons of jewelry, estimated in millions, she got married at 17, got divorced at 22 and married a German naval officer who she met at some reception ball, rumor has it she led a rather colorful life, as colorful as you could get in those days, I’ve always imagined her as a grand dutchess of some sort, she was rather strict, but caring and loving at the same time, or so they say.

Helga and I couldn’t stand each other while growing up, we were constantly at each other’s throats, fighting for attention,  though she was probably just jealous that I got more attention than she did, that drove her mad,  she tried to suffocate me with a pillow at one time, when I was 5 years old, and my mother to this day won’t forgive her for that.

As we grew up nothing much changed, we were still quarreling constantly, though after my father past, that kind of brought us closer together, we still talk on the phone from time to time, but as a rule we only saw each other during Thanks Giving and Christmas Holidays and even then it didn’t go without an argument. Love, Hate relationship you can say…  My mother got pregnant with Gloria when she was in her mid 30’s,  we all adored her, her being born,   even brought us closer together and we became more like a family again, sort of.
